Updates are few and far between, but that's because we've been out on long cattle drives. But we've been longing for home, and are ready to sleep in real beds instead of curling up by the embers of our dying fires. But we've somehow managed to find time to continue working on our new album between shootouts, and are now past the halfway mark for the tracking. Empire is shaping up nicely.
We have some shows coming up:
Aug 11- For the Kids Fest in Chapel Hill, NC. @ the Skylight Exchange 405 1/2 W Rosemary St Chapel Hill, NC 27516
it starts at 2PM we play around 4:30
Tons of bands playing it: LA QUIETE PHOENIX BODIES BARONESS myspace ULTRA DOLPHINS BRAINWORMS ARCHITECTS DIVIDER GIANT WOLVERINES BOA NARROW
Our new van will get us there. It's right nice:

Then the next night Aug 12th @ The Mill Mountain Theater in Roanoke One Market Square (Second Floor), Roanoke, VA 24011 Cost: $7.00
it will be with: BRANCHDWELLER SUMMER CAMP THE ANTIKYTHERA DEVICE THE TOP SECRET EPISODE
NEWISH RELEASE: (old songs, new package) We'll be releasing our first album and our 7" (which are both sold out) on a CD-R just to have something new to sell. Steven's grandma did the painting used for the artwork.

The first ten tracks is our first album"Passing Through Just Like a Ghost" in it's entirety, and the last 2 are the A and B sides of our 7" "The Battle of Mine Creek". These will be $6.00 so pick one up while we have em!
Alright y'all I reckon it's time I got back to cleaning my guns, and drinkin' whiskey. Know what I mean?

********************** NEW ALBUM **********************
We aren't dead. But we aren't playing many shows right now. There's a ton of cool stuff happening though. We're right around halfway done with the tracking of our new album (tentatively titled "Empire"). We estimate it will be 13 or 14 brand new tracks. We hope to finish recording by the end of summer and maybe shoot for a winter release. But release dates are never a thing to rely on.
********************** SHOWS ********************** Even though we have been taking a break from shows, we do have 2 upcoming shows that we couldn't resist playing.
The first is For The Kids Fest in Charlotte, NC on August 11th. We're really excited to be a part of it this year. This will also be the maiden voyage of our new van if things go according to plan. (famous last words?)
We are also playing the Halloween Rock N Romp show in DC, which is a show for kids and their hip parents. We'd like to do something special for this, but we aren't sure what yet. Rest assured we'll play some leadbelly inspired children's songs.
********************** WE'LL INHERIT THE EARTH ********************** The Replacements tribute comp on 1, 2, 3, 4 Go! records can now be preordered. Preordering gets you a sweet full color poster, so get to it!
Head on over to their online catalog to preorder it. While you're there, you can pick up a copy of our old EP for dirt cheap from their distro.
Visit the official We'll Inherit The Earth website to hear clips from all the great bands on this comp. Really, could Against Me! doing Bastards of Young be any more cool?
********************** KEEP IT REAL ********************** Y'all fellers keep it real as hell.

An Attempt To Stretch A Few Tidbits of Information Into An Undeserving Long And Interesting News Update
First things first. We are (finally) winding down on our long stretch of weekend shows and shindigs. It has been fun and exhiliarating albeit exhausting. Unfortunately we have not gotten away entirely unscathed. Our recent trip to Ohio left us (and the Wading Girl) with a wrecked bumper on the van, a speeding ticket, and a collective vendetta against an entire state (jay kay ohio friends! we dig y'all the most). On the bright side, we are still alive!
With the bulk of our shows behind us (for now), we are ready to start working on our new album! The hoodio has been set up in Patrick's basement and Steven and Justin have started working on some drum tracks. We have about 20 new songs that are just dying to be heard by you! Needless to say, we are really excited to get these new songs under our fingers and into your starving ears.
The vinyl release of the Gravedigger EP is still in the works. The recording is at the pressing plant and is expected to be ready for us sometime in May according to our pal JPQ and his label, Grateful... Records. (We can't wait to have new materials for step-ladder building.)
With our 7" nearly out and us being too lazy to make more of those fancy-ass "Passing Through" cds (which are also nearly out), we decided to pull a fast one and combine the 2 on a cd re-release that has both! This is slated for release... when we get some money. We're kind of broke. =(
Here is a small list of upcoming shows. Visit... somewhere else... for details because I don't feel like looking them up right now. Our myspace perhaps? Dude, i don't even know where Steven keeps this stuff. Just call his house or something. Talk to his parents. They're good peoples.
APR 21- Lynchburg MAY 19- Lynchburg MAY 20- Danville JUN 3rd- Charlotte (The Milestone)
Until next time y'all. Keep it real as hell.

Well we're now re-adjusted to real life after an amazing tour. Thanks to everyone who made it so unbelievably enjoyable, and thanks to our van for being a trooper and causing us no problems. In fact, the tour was strangely problem free. I broke no strings, no shows fell through, no indian attacks, and no small pox breakouts. We will soon have some MP3s from our show in Winter Park courtesy of The Internet's Treymon Fauntre. Our list of thank yous is long and I don't want to risk leaving anyone out, so a great big THANK YOU to everyone who deserves it, you know who you are.
So now we will be cutting back on shows for a few months as we spend time writing for a new album. I'm really excited about this, and we have very high hopes for our next big release.
Speaking of next releases, here's a comprehensive list:
A split 7" with On The Strings Of on Radical Ruckus. This is being delayed a bit, but rest assured, it's happening!
We will have a track on a compilation coming out soonish on 1, 2, 3, 4, Go! Records in California. More info on this when it gets a little closer.
We've also talked about a split with our friends The Wading Girl. If we find a label willing to put this out it might be a 7", if not a good ol' fashioned CDR. Still in the planning stages, but hopefully it will pan out.
Anyways that's about all the news from our neck of the woods. How are you?

Thanks to everyone who came to our shows this weekend.
Thanks to the Lynchburgians for braving the harsh weather, and thanks to the Washingtonians for hanging with us and making it a thoroughly enjoyable night.
Thanks especially to Ryan for taking us to eat monster pizzas (these slices were like 3 feet long!) Thanks to French Stewart for being the best band of the century. Thanks to all the bands we played with, everyone was sweet. Thanks to Andrew and Co. for letting us sleep in their dorm. Thanks to Rachel and Michele for driving all that way to DC just to hang!
French Stewart. The band you have to see.

[03 Nov 2005|04:13pm] |
The show on November 11th at the Drowsy Poet starts at 8:00 PM, NOT 7:00 PM like some flyers/posters read. but you should still get there at 7, enjoy a nice milkshake, and get comfortable!
My bad!
